My best Senegalese friend Djibi just texted me saying he had an internship in Mali and was leaving tomorrow night and wouldn't be back til May 10th. I couldn't believe it! I was so sad.
And then he called me and said, Ah I was kidding. It's "poisson d'avril", don't you know it?
April fool's day is one day in the US. It's a month in Senegal.
