An Understatement

Come and see what God has done:
    he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. Psalm 66:5

I read this and my first thought was, What an understatement it is to say that God is awesome in the way he deals with us! 

We sin against him; we curse his name, and what does he do? Comes as Jesus to live among the wretches. Most of scorn him, so what does he do? He dies. An innocent divine man, takes to the cross for us. We abandon him there as he bleeds and gasps for air; we spit in his face; we turn away. And he rises. He gives us his Holy Spirit and compels us to turn to him. And he loves us. He forgives we who are so beyond unworthy of forgiveness. He is patient with us, correcting us even as we continue to fail him. That is unfathomable, undeserved grace. 

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might Ephesians 1:19
